Let a Hundred Flowers Bloom...and more

Ok. So Obviously I don’t write a lot of blogs.  I prefer to speak through my work.  I spend all my time thinking and working on whatever projects I can find, manufacture or just plain luck into.  I am “nerdly” obsessed.  A lot has been happening since the last time I made a post.  I just finished directing David Zellnik’s Let a Hundred Flowers Bloom at defunkt  theatre.

Here's some great reviews: OregonArtswatch PQ Monthly,

It was a beautiful experience with a talented cast and crew; a really special kind of show.  I feel it is the best work I have personally done since 13. If you’re reading this before March 22nd 2014 go see this show.

Since last I posted my home company, Staged! produced Matthew B. Zrebski’s a cappella musical thriller Ablaze which was ultimately honored with 4 Drammy awards and 2 PAMTA awards.  I think most importantly the beautiful ensemble of that show won Outstanding Ensemble of the season from both awards committees. It was also awarded Best Show of the Season by the PAMTAs.

Finally, the biggest news for my theatrical life is that I have moved on from being the director of West Sylvan Drama the program I have helped to shape and build since 2006.  I will now be a permanent guest director in the theatrical seasons of defunkt  and Post5 theatre company as well as my ongoing involvement with Staged! as associate artistic director. I am currently working on Hamlet with Post5 (Opening March 27th 2014).  Followed by Jason Robert Brown’s Parade opening in September 2014.  See you at the theatre!
